Emotional eating

Emotional eating is a common issue that can lead to weight gain. It involves eating in response to emotions, such as stress, anxiety, boredom, or sadness. Emotional eating is often a way of coping with difficult emotions, but it can lead to a cycle of weight gain and negative body image.

• Stress: Stress can lead to emotional eating as a way to cope with the physical and emotional tension it creates. When stressed, the body releases the hormone cortisol, which can increase appetite and cravings for sugary or fatty foods.
• Anxiety: Anxiety can also lead to emotional eating as a way to self-soothe. People with anxiety may eat to reduce feelings of nervousness, worry, or fear.
• Boredom: Boredom can also be a trigger for emotional eating. When people are bored, they may eat to pass the time or to give themselves something to do.

Emotional eating can be a difficult issue to overcome, but it is important to seek help if you are struggling. There are many resources available to help you manage your emotions in healthy ways and develop healthier eating habits.

Hormonal imbalances

Hormonal imbalances can play a significant role in weight gain, including in the case of Lisa Riley. Hormonal imbalances can disrupt the body's metabolism, making it more difficult to burn calories and lose weight. Additionally, hormonal imbalances can lead to increased appetite and cravings, making it more challenging to maintain a healthy diet.

One of the most common hormonal imbalances that can lead to weight gain is insulin resistance. Insulin is a hormone that helps the body use glucose for energy. When the body becomes resistant to insulin, glucose levels in the blood can rise, leading to weight gain. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder that can also lead to weight gain. PCOS is characterized by irregular periods, high levels of androgens (male hormones), and insulin resistance.

For Lisa Riley, hormonal imbalances may have been a contributing factor to her weight gain. She has spoken about struggling with perimenopause, a transitional phase leading up to menopause. During perimenopause, the body's production of estrogen and progesterone fluctuates, which can lead to a variety of symptoms, including weight gain.
